Established in 1997 by the Government of Andhra Pradesh with the support of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala, Dravidian University is dedicated to the integrated development of Dravidian languages, literature, culture, folklore, history and tribal studies. Located at the tri-junction of three states, it serves as a beacon of higher education in this region.

Dravidian University, the brainchild of the late Padma Shri Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao Garu, former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, legendary film artist, humanist, and visionary, was established in 1997 with the aim of promoting Dravidian languages, history, and culture. His vision, initiative, and foresight were clearly reflected in the establishment of the university in Kuppam, a confluence of three states—Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu. He succeeded in involving the neighboring states of Kerala and Puducherry in the noble cause of unearthing the hidden treasures of Dravidian languages, folklore, tribal studies, history, archaeology, literature, philosophy, herbal sciences, and technology through teaching and research. I am Dr. K. Ch. Appa Rao, Divisional Development Officer at the Collectorate, Bhimavaram. I completed my Ph.D. in the Department of Telugu. I was deeply impressed by my guide, who was extremely helpful and cooperative, as were all the faculty members of the department. The university's vast library, with nearly 100,000 books, is an invaluable resource for research scholars in literature.
I am Dr. Suresh, Formulation Specialist at LYBL Healthcare Technology Private Limited, India, and a proud alumnus of Dravidian University. I completed my undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. studies in Biotechnology there. The dedicated faculty and well-equipped labs provided me with essential experimental skills and motivation. The university's excellent facilities and pollution-free campus greatly enriched my educational experience
