Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC)

NAAC recommends that all accredited institutions create an Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) as a post-accreditation quality sustenance measure in accordance with its Action Plan for Performance Evaluation, Assessment, Accreditation, and Quality Upgradation of Higher Education Institutions. The institution's quality assurance committee (IQAC) will integrate into the system and strive to achieve the objectives of quality maintenance and improvement as improving quality is an ongoing process. The main goal of the IQAC is to create a framework for the deliberate, systematic, and catalytic enhancement of institutions' overall performance. To that end, it will focus all of the institution's activities and actions during the post-accreditation period on advancing its comprehensive academic excellence.

Functions & Strategies

IQAC shall evolve mechanisms and procedures for:

  • Ensuring timely, efficient and progressive performance of academic, administrative and financial tasks
  • The relevance and quality of academic and research programmes
  • Equitable access to and affordability of academic programmes
  • Optimization and integration of modern methods of teaching and learning
  • Ensuring adequacy, maintenance and functioning of support services
  • Research sharing and networking with institutions in India and abroad

Functions

Some of the functions expected of the IQAC are:

  • Establishing and implementing quality standards and guidelines for academic and administrative operations
  • Assisting in the development of a learner-centered teaching environment
  • Helping faculty adopt tools and technology for innovative teaching
  • Setting up effective feedback systems involving all stakeholders
  • Organizing seminars, workshops, conferences and quality circles
  • Documenting quality-related initiatives and best practices
  • Acting as a nodal agency for coordinating quality-related activities
  • Maintaining institutional database through MIS
  • Development of quality culture in the institution
  • Preparation and submission of AQAR to NAAC

Initiatives

The following quality initiatives are currently in practice towards strengthening internal quality assurance mechanisms of the University.

  • Student feedback on various academic courses is collected through Google Forms and utilized for analysis and continuous improvement.
  • Registration of all faculty members on the IRINS–VIDWAN portal.
  • Timely completion and submission of the Annual Quality Assurance Reports (AQAR) for the academic years 2020–21 and 2021–22.
  • Regular updating of the University website with student support services and academic information.
  • ISO Certification of ISO 9001:2018, ISO 14001:2018, and ISO 50001:2018 for Quality Academic Services, Environmental Management System, and Energy Management System.
  • Constitution of the Students’ Council of the University.
  • Initiation of Academic Audit processes for all Schools, Departments, and Centres of the University.
  • Implementation of the Learning Outcome–Based Curriculum Framework for all academic programmes.
