About Department

The Department of Computer Science and Technology was established in the year 1999. Initially, the Department floated a 2-Year M.Sc. Programme and later introduced the 3-Year M.C.A. Programme in 2005. Subsequently, M.Phil. and Ph.D. Research Programmes were started along with three new 5-Year Integrated M.Sc. Programmes in Computer Science, Mathematics and Statistics.

Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) was introduced in June 2006 for the first time in the state of Andhra Pradesh. Since inception, the department has grown in stature and is ranked among the best in the University, receiving good funding support from the Government of Andhra Pradesh. The UGC has recognized the department's potential and sanctioned the University Computer Centre with additional staff and infrastructure.

The faculty members are actively engaged in research in the areas of Data Mining, Neural Networks, Databases, Distributed Systems, Cloud Computing, Big Data Analytics, Semantic Web and Web Technologies. More than 120 research papers have been published in reputed international journals, and several faculty members serve as reviewers and resource persons at national and international levels.

Board Of Studies

From the academic year 2013–2014, the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) has been introduced in all departments of the University. According to this system, the M.C.A and M.Sc Computer Science programmes require a student to earn 100 credits in four semesters.

The Board of Studies in Computer Science has approved the course structure and CBCS syllabus for M.C.A and M.Sc Computer Science programmes for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th semesters on 20th November 2019.
