Established in 1997 by the Government of Andhra Pradesh with the support of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala, Dravidian University is dedicated to the integrated development of Dravidian languages, literature, culture, folklore, history and tribal studies. Located at the tri-junction of three states, it serves as a beacon of higher education in this region.

The University is committed to sustaining excellence in teaching, research, and innovation by fostering interdisciplinary and comparative studies that transcend socio-linguistic, cultural, and geographical boundaries. It aims to nurture critical inquiry, scholarly engagement, and creative expression while empowering students and researchers to contribute meaningfully to society through knowledge dissemination, translation initiatives, and community outreach. By integrating traditional wisdom with modern perspectives, the University strives to serve as a global hub for Dravidian studies and inclusive higher education.
The ultimate goal of the Dravidian University is to foster and strengthen national integration through a wider knowledge and understanding of Dravidian languages, literature, culture, sciences and technology. Dravidian University sees language as an opportunity for self-discovery and mother tongue as the foundation to bring about a paradigm shift in education. The University promotes translation, comparative cultural studies, visual and performing arts while respecting diversity and resisting homogenization.
